Former teacher pleads not guilty to child porn charges

KAMLOOPS – A former SD73 teacher has pleaded not guilty to possession of child pornography and is expected to stand trial. Jerry Waselenkoff, a retired special education teacher, was arraigned yesterday in Kamloops Provincial Court.

The police investigation into the matter was almost a year long, beginning October 2012, and involved a specialized tech unit. Charges were laid at the end of July. A school district representative commented on the allegations after the news broke.

Waselenkoff acted as a special education teacher in the district and created programming to help younger students.

He will appear in court next on Dec. 19 to fix a date for trial.
