PICTURES AND VIDEO: Tree lighting marks official start of holiday season
KAMLOOPS – Hundreds of people took to the downtown area Thursday evening to take in the Lights in the Night celebration, which included evening shopping, a lumiere parade and the official tree lighting at St. Andrews on the Square.
As it got closer to the official tree lighting time, parade participants brought their lanterns to the square to help line the paths. The Desert Sounds Harmony Chorus carolled to the large crowd. Rudolph, Santa and the Grinch mingled with the crowd and posed for many pictures as children finished up crafts inside the old church. After a short speech and a quick countdown from the crowd the tree was lit up and the downtown corner officially became ready for the holiday season.
