Most actively traded companies on the TSX

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Thursday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Toronto Stock Exchange (14,052.97, up 183.09 points):

Southern Pacific Resource Corp. (TSX:STP). Oil and gas. Down one cent, or 33.33 per cent, to two cents on 12.8 million shares.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Up $1.54, or 4.27 per cent, to $37.57 on 10.1 million shares.

Suncor Energy Inc. (TSX:SU). Oil and gas. Up 83 cents, or 2.29 per cent, to $37.14 on 6.3 million shares.

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace. Up three cents, or 0.85 per cent, to $3.54 on 5.8 million shares.

Athabasca Oil Corp. (TSX:ATH). Oil and gas. Up 40 cents, or 10.03 per cent, to $4.39 on 5.5 million shares.

Cenovus Energy Inc. (TXS:CVE). Oil and gas. Up 20 cents, or 0.76 per cent, to $26.39 on 5.3 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Air Canada (TSX:AC.B). Airline. Up 29 cents, or 4.29 per cent, to $7.05 on 2.9 million shares. Flight attendants have won permission from the carrier to wear disposable gloves to help protect themselves from the risk of coming into contact with the Ebola virus. Ebola concerns and slower global economic growth have hurt airlines stocks in recent weeks, offsetting the benefit from falling fuel prices.
