Today on Parliament Hill

OTTAWA – There is likely to be fallout in the House of Commons today after the latest revelations about a man who hit two Canadian soldiers with his car near Montreal on Monday.

RCMP say Martin Couture-Rouleau, who they have described as “radicalized,” was arrested in July and interviewed by authorities as late as October 9th.

But the Mounties said there was no indication he would take such action and they couldn’t arrest him for having radical thoughts.

Here are some other events taking place today around Parliament Hill:

— The Bank of Canada announces its decision on the overnight rate, and its quarterly Monetary Policy Report.

— Bank of Canada governor Stephen Poloz appears at the Commons finance committee.

— Paul Hannon, of Mines Action Canada, appears at the Senate foreign affairs committee hearing witnesses on a bill to prohibit cluster bombs.

— Statistics Canada releases the retail trade figures for August.

— The three major parties hold their weekly caucus meetings.

— Green party Leader Elizabeth May appears at Senate social affairs committee to discuss Bill C-442, An Act respecting a Federal Framework on Lyme Disease.
