Preliminary inquiry set for Lumby man accused of murder

VERNON – The 55-year-old man charged with second-degree murder in connection with the shooting death of a Vernon teacher in Lumby this past summer will be back before the judge in the New Year for a preliminary hearing.

Howard Krewson, who is also known as Howard Everett, is accused of killing Linda Ross, 51, at hobby farm on Trinity Valley Road on June 19, 2014.

RCMP said Krewson turned the gun on himself after allegedly shooting Ross. Krewson survived the gunshot wound and remains in custody.

The two had been dating for a brief period of time, according to police.

Ross was a teacher at the Alternate Learning Program in Vernon.

Five days are scheduled for the preliminary hearing, which begins on Feb. 4, 2015 at the Vernon Courthouse.

The judge will use the hearing to determine if there is enough evidence for a trial.
