Spirit of Kelowna soars to top prize at Calgary Stampede
KELOWNA – The Spirit of Kelowna soared high at the Calgary Stampede earlier this week, snagging the top prize in a crowded field.
The City of Kelowna entered the Calgary Stampede parade on July 5 with their celebrated Spirit of Kelowna float. The float, adorned with images of the famed Ogopogo, won the President's Award at the parade, which is presented to the best overall entry.
The float also won the best municipal entry award.
According to the Stampede, the parade saw 112 entries, including 32 floats, 19 marching bands and over 200 horses.
“I congratulate all of the award winners for adding to another great parade," said Karen Franco, Chair of the Calgary Stampede Parade Committee, in a press release.
