How Kelowna police saved Christmas for a Salmon Arm family

KELOWNA – A Salmon Arm couple was overwhelmed by the generosity and kindness demonstrated by officers with the Kelowna RCMP detachment.

The couple were in Kelowna to spend Christmas with family when their car was broken into Thursday night.

Const. Kris Clark says unfortunately the couple had left all their Christmas gifts in their vehicle and the thieves took everything. They were inconsolable because they didn’t have the money to replace the gifts.

“Because of the circumstance the couple were in, the responding officer thought it was a good idea to see if we could help out in some way,” Clark says. “So we did a bit of collection at the detachment on Friday and we were able get over $400 donated and also some small gifts and toys to try to make their Christmas a little bit better.”

The couple were very appreciative and thankful for the kindness shown them and say they'll be able to salvage their Christmas with gifts to put under the tree after all, according to a media release from Central Okanagan Crime Stoppers.
