Highway 97 crash east of Falkland leaves one dead

NORTH OKANAGAN – A man in his sixties has died in a fatal vehicle collison on Highway 97 east of Falkland.

According to an E Division Traffic Services RCMP media release, the fatal crash took place at just after 5:35 a.m. today, July 15, near Whispering Pines Frontage Road, on Highway 97, east of Falkland.

RCMP said the black pick-up truck involved in the crash was travelling east and failed to negotiate the curve and left the highway. The driver, the lone occupant of the vehicle, was ejected from the vehicle and died as a result of the collision.

The media release says the North Okanagan Traffic Services and the B.C.Coroners' Service are investigating the crash and appealing for witnesses or anyone with dash camera footage to contact the police.
