Body found in Okanagan Lake in Penticton

PENTICTON – RCMP are investigating following the discovery of a body floating in Okanagan Lake near the marina in Penticton on the weekend.

Police say the body was found near the break wall at the marina at around 8:37 a.m. Saturday, July 20.

Penticton firefighters helped to recover the body, according to an RCMP media release.

“The investigation remains in its preliminary stages, however, criminality is not suspected in the individual’s sudden death at this time,” RCMP media relations officer Cpl. Jess O'Donaghey says in the release. “The B.C. Coroners Service is also investigating the person’s death, and the Penticton RCMP continue to work together with the coroner in an effort to positively identify the remains."
