Most actively traded companies on the TSX

TORONTO – Some of the most active companies traded Wednesday on the Toronto Stock Exchange:

Bombardier Inc. (TSX:BBD.B). Aerospace. Up four cents, or 0.99 per cent, to $4.07 on 5.8 million shares.

B2Gold Corp. (TSX:BTO). Miner. Up three cents, or 1.62 per cent, to $1.88 on 5.6 million shares.

Eldorado Gold Corp. (TSX:ELD). Miner. Down three cents, or 0.46 per cent, to $6.52 on 5.3 million shares.

Yamana Gold Inc. (TSX:YRI). Miner. Down 11 cents, or 2.51 per cent, to $4.28 on 4.4 million shares.

Canadian Natural Resources Ltd. (TSX:CNQ). Oil and gas. Up 79 cents, or 1.92 per cent, to $41.91 on 4.2 million shares.

BlackBerry Ltd. (TSX:BB). Communication equipment. Up 28 cents, or 2.24 per cent, to $12.76 on 3.8 million shares.

Companies reporting major news:

Encana Corp. (TSX:ECA). Oil and gas. Down 35 cents, or 1.67 per cent, to $20.58 on 2.4 million shares. The company posted operating earnings of $281 million or 38 cents a share, missing estimates of 50 cents a share. But Encana did on cash flow, which increased to $1.09 per share from 89 cents per share and eight cents above the estimate of $1.01 per share.

Loblaw Companies Ltd. (TSX:L). Retail. Up $1.98, or 3.41 per cent, to $60.10 on 787,568 shares. Canada’s largest grocer reported adjusted earnings of $371 million or 90 cents a share, up 23 per cent from a year ago and three cents ahead of estimates. Revenue shot up 36 per cent to $13.6 billion, reflecting its acquisition of Shoppers Drug Mart.

Yellow Media Ltd. (TSX:Y). Publishing. Up $2.10, or 13.13 per cent, to $18.10 on 226,769 shares. The company posted quarterly earnings of $26.5 million or 98 cents per share compared with $41.8 million or $1.51 per share a year ago. Total revenue declined eight per cent to $218.4 million but revenue from digital products was up and now represents more than half of the total.
