"At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 10, we received an alert that the haul rope for Sea to Sky Gondola had fallen and the lift was inoperable," reads a media release on the incident.
"No guests or staff were on the gondola and no injuries were sustained in the incident. The gondola is currently closed and all media inquiries should be directed to the Squamish RCMP."
"at 4am we heard what sounded like a massive rock fall. This morning we can see a cable from between the first tower & base laying in the ground. All those cabins are in the ground. Unbelievable- good thing it wasn’t 4pm. "
