Accused in animal cruelty case to face charges in Supreme Court
KAMLOOPS – A man accused of shooting two dogs plans to make an application to adjourn his trial date in Supreme Court next week.
Richard Charles Gerald Benton faces one charge of causing unnecessary pain or suffering to an animal and one charge of killing or injuring an animal.
He is accused of shooting the dogs near Knouff Lake in December 2013.
When the owner found the dogs, one was dead. The other was alive after being left for 24 hours, but was paralyzed. The second dog was euthanized due to the severity of its injuries.
Investigators with the Barriere RCMP asked the public to submit any tips on the event. Charges were sworn against the suspect on July 10, 2014.
Benton will appear in court Jan. 5 to make an application to adjourn his trial. Currently, the preliminary inquiry is scheduled for March 13.

I am the owner of Ryker and Phylo.I hope these charges get settled soon.Seem’s its just being adjourned over and over.I hope he is getting maximum sentencing.I think about my baby’s every day.I miss them so much. Such a sick person to do such a thing.

go ahead buddy, file for an adjournment, on what grounds, you can run but you cannot hide. I hope he goes to jail for a long long time.
