Speeders in your Kelowna neighbourhood? Get Black Cat on your side

Kelowna RCMP are inviting people to call in about drivers speeding through their neighbourhoods so they know where to set up their new Black Cat Radar unit.

It’s described as an “automated, highly-portable system that detects a vehicle’s size, speed, lane position, and direction and gathers data around the clock on every vehicle that passes for up to a week,” states an RCMP news release.

“We want to be able to use our resources more efficiently and by using the Black Cat Radar we can compile data and evaluate the level of risk in certain neighborhoods in order to better prioritize our enforcement efforts,” Sgt. Mark Booth, with Kelowna RCMP traffic services, said in the release.

People with concerns about speeders can call the RCMP 24-7 non-emergency number at (250) 762-3300.
