Connector crash near Merritt leaves 1 dead, 2 injured

MERRITT, B.C. – A crash on an icy highway in B.C.'s Interior has left one person dead and two others recovering from injuries.

The accident happened Friday afternoon on Highway 97c southeast of Merritt.

The RCMP say a vehicle carrying three people left the road and rolled down an embankment.

All three people inside the vehicle were transported to hospital, where one of them was pronounced dead.

Police say the highway was icy at the time of the crash.

The RCMP and the B.C. Coroners Service are both investigating.
