Highway 1 reopens east of Chase following small avalanche

A small avalanche today closed the Trans-Canada east of Chase for several hours.

DriveBC said Highway 1 around one kilometre east of Chase was closed as crews cleaned up following the avalanche today, Jan. 24.

The highway reopened at approximately 4:30 p.m. and DriveBC advised drivers to watch for traffic control through the area.

The province's highway maintenance contractor Aim Roads said in a post to Facebook it needed clearance from the Ministry of Transportation's avalanche technicians before cleanup could begin this afternoon.
