Details announced for Bob Ross exhibition coming to Penticton Art Gallery

The art of Bob Ross is coming to Penticton.

Ross became well known as a soft spoken guy, famous for painting happy clouds, mountains and trees, thanks to his TV show The Joy of Painting which ran from 1983 to 1994, according to a Penticton Art Gallery media release. The show was one of the most recognized and watched TV art shows in history.

An exhibition of his work Happy Little Accidents will be featured at the Penticton Art Gallery and will feature 32 of his original paintings, the first of its kind in Canada, the gallery says. The exhibition takes place from March 21 through to May 10.

To kick off the event, everyone is invited to join the Penticton Art Gallery on March 21 for a dance party and costumes encouraged. Dress as your favourite happy little tree and enjoy a photo booth, disc jockey and snacks. The party gets underway at 7:30 p.m. Entrance fee is a $10 suggested donation at the door.

In addition to the art exhibit, the art gallery will have a sponsorship wall where individuals and businesses can purchase a happy little square for $20, proceeds going to keep galley events and programming accessible to all.

The gallery will also be hosting a Brown Bag Lunch Series during the exhibition featuring 15 episodes from The Joy of Painting series.

The gallery gift shop will also have Bob Ross merchandise available.
