Plenty of chances, no goals in game four for the Kamloops Blazers

A strong start by the Portland Winterhawks was enough to take the Blazers in game four of the Western Conference Final.

The Winterhawks won 3-0 at the Interior Savings Centre Wednesday night after the Blazers were unable to respond.

Portland scored on a powerplay just 2:09 into the game with Nicolas Petan opening up the scoreboard on a setup by Ty Rattie and Troy Rutkowski.

Then at 11:43, Seth Jones also managed to put one past Blazers goaltender Cole Cheveldave with assists by Rattie and Petan.

The Blazers fought back in the second period outshooting the Winterhawks 16-5, but despite their efforts, the score remained 2-0 Portland heading into the third.

Just 1:35 into the final period, Petan put another away with his eighth of the playoffs, assisted again by Rattie, as well as Jones.

The Winterhawks went 1-for-7 on the powerplay, scoring on a 5-on-3, while the Blazers finished 0-for-4. Shots on goal were 29-27 for the Blazers.

The Blazers loss puts them behind 3-1 in the series.

Game five goes back to Portland Friday night, and a tentative game six is set for Sunday night in Kamloops.
