KELOWNA – The Kelowna Rockets have added a veteran player with size at the Western Hockey League trade deadline.
The Rockets have acquired 19-year-old forward Marc McCoy from the Regina Pats in exchange for a fifth round WHL bantam draft pick in 2016.
McCoy, a 6-foot-2 195 pound Edmonton native had not returned to the Regina organization after Christmas.
"He was suspended by Regina because he didn't go back to the team so we are going to talk to Marc and we felt it was a good risk to take," said Rockets president/GM Bruce Hamilton. "We wanted to add a bigger player and with our roster at 23, we thought we could add another player."
The trade was the Rockets third trade this week after adding talented Slovakian Marek Tvrdon from Vancouver and sending Zach Franko to Kootenay.
