Spice up your Zoom calls with these free Kelowna, Kamloops backgrounds

Tourism groups in Kamloops and Kelowna are offering Zoom users some local background options to use while video conferencing.

While people connect with coworkers, friends and families on the widely-used video conferencing platform Zoom, they can use a customized background provided by Tourism Kamloops and Tourism Kelowna.

You can virtually put yourself in Kamloops's Riverside Park during sunset, in front of a herd of bighorn sheep or pose in front of some towering hoodoos. You can imagine yourself golfing at some scenic River City courses, or chill with Clover, the B.C. Wildlife Park’s white spirit bear.

Tourism Kelowna also offers some great shots to make a work call a little more scenic. You can pretend to be enjoying the day at Quail’s Gate Winery or Arrowleaf Vineyard, take a virtual “stroll” on the waterfront boardwalk or chill at Hot Sands beach in Kelowna.

Jenna Wheeler is a writer at heart. She has always been naturally curious about what matters to the people in her community. That’s why it was an obvious decision to study journalism at Durham College, where she enjoyed being an editor for the student newspaper, The Chronicle. She has since travelled across Canada, living in small towns in the Rockies, the Coast Mountains, and tried out the big city experience. She is passionate about sustainability, mental health, and the arts. When she’s not reporting, she’s likely holed up with a good book and her cat Ace.
