UPDATE: Osoyoos woman dies in duplex fire

MAN IN STABLE CONDITION

OSOYOOS – A man and woman were rushed to hospital after they were severely burned in a fire at a duplex in Osoyoos Friday morning, but the woman has since died while the main remains in serious condition.

The Osoyoos Fire Department was called to the blaze in the 8700 block of 92 Avenue at about 9 a.m. When they arrived the house was engulfed in flames, according to the RCMP.

The couple was taken by ambulance to hospital in Oliver. The man was airlifted to Kelowna General Hospital, while the woman, identified as Deleyne Hunter, 52 of Osoyoos, was flown to hospital in Vancouver where she succumbed to her injuries the following day.

The man, Sheldon Hall, 41, is currently in stable but serious condition. He is now at the Vancouver General Hospital burn unit. Hall sustained serious burns to 35 per cent of his body.

The home was left gutted by the fire.

No word yet on the cause of the blaze but the Osoyoos RCMP have said it appeared to have started accidentally.
