Okanagan winery taking new approach to food during COVID-19, serves up bagels and sourdough
An Okanagan winery can hardly keep up with the demand for handmade bagels.
Morgan Wowchuk is the chef who normally serves up pizza at Blind Tiger Vineyards as part of her business, Marno’s Woodfire Bakery in Lake Country. With the pandemic, she's found her customers are craving a new type of bread.
Wowchuk started experimenting with different breads and is now ramping up her production since her bagels have been selling out every week.
“It was crazy. I started with the sourdough bread which was selling and starting doing little things on the side,” she said.

Her first week she made two dozen bagels, the next week she made three dozen and last week she made roughly 150 which sold out in three hours.
“The bagels are really starting to take off,” she said.
She’s been making chocolate chip, garlic asiago, everything bagels and just plain ones.
“It’s fun to try all these different things,” she said. Over the next few weeks, she’ll also start experimenting with cinnamon buns.
People seem to be excited for handmade bagels and she’s heard positive feedback from her customers, she said.
Message Wowchuk on Instagram through Marno's Pizza or through Blind Tiger Vineyards on Facebook to if you have a food request.
Wowchuk said customers can order food a week before, which helps her meet the demand.
