Teenager in hospital after West Kelowna quadding accident

A teenager is in the hospital after sustaining injuries to his lower body after a quadding accident.

Shortly after 11 a.m. May 30, West Kelowna Fire Rescue responded to an accident involving an all-terrain quad vehicle, approximately one kilometer above the Tallus Ridge subdivision in West Kelowna, according to the fire department in a news release.

The teenager was coming down a trail when he lost control of the vehicle and flipped over, sustaining injuries to his lower body, according to the news release.

The fire department responded with an engine, rescue truck and a command unit. Given the location of the injured rider, the department also deployed its new off-road utility vehicle.

The patient was stabilized and transported to Kelowna General Hospital, according to the release. 

WKFR is reminding off-road enthusiasts to ride within their limits, carry emergency supplies and a phone, and tell friends or family where they are going, according to the release.
