Two Ontario residents were arrested in Kamloops this weekend, following a report of shots fired.

The Kamloops RCMP received a report June 21 at approximately 10:20 a.m. to four shots being fired in the area of the Tranquille River near Tranquille Criss Creek Road, Staff Sgt. Sascha Fesenko said in a press release.

Multiple members attended, including the Police Dog Service, to secure the area.

Witnesses assisted police in locating a camp set up near the river where a male and female from Ontario were arrested.

During a search of the area, a starter's pistol was located.  The police investigation continues.
