Surrey driver facing charges after failed getaway from police in Vernon

A 23-year-old Surrey man is facing charges after trying to getaway from RCMP officer in Vernon on Saturday.

An officer were called to a report of a suspicious vehicle at a home on 25 Avenue in Vernon at around 6 p.m., July 11, according to an RCMP media release.

They spotted the suspect vehicle driving on 24 Avenue and when they tried to pull it over it took off at a high rate of speed. The pursuit was called off in the interest of safety.

RCMP learned the vehicle was parked in a Predator Ridge neighbourhood later that evening.

Officers and police dog contained the area and deployed a spike belt. When the suspect left, he drove over the belt and was arrested.

D’Andre Clearsky, 23, of Surrey is facing charges of flight from police and dangerous driving. He’s scheduled to appear in court today, July 13.
