Police looking for suspects following discovery of woman’s body

OLIVER – RCMP released a suspect in the suspicious death of a woman whose body was found at a campsite on Saturday.

The suspect, whose name was not released, was arrested over the weekend.

RCMP say they were called to a disturbance near the shore of Sawmill Lake at about 3 a.m. Saturday.

Officers found the body of a woman whose identity is not being released to the public at this time.

“Investigators do not believe there to be any danger to the public,” Cst. Kris Clark said in a media release.

Sawmill Lake, which is also called Burnell Lake, is part of the Burnell-Sawmill Lake Forestry Recreation Site off Fairview Road northwest of the Oliver.

Anyone with any information is asked to call the Oliver RCMP at 250-498-3422 or remain anonymous by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
