Kelowna RCMP seize illegal tobacco during one-day crime crackdown
Kelowna RCMP officers targeted crime in Rutland for a day making several arrests and seizing weapons and drugs.
The Crime Reduction Unit executed a one-day project on Dougall Road and Highway 33 on Monday, April 21, according to a press release from police.
Police arrested seven people for drug related offences, seized weapons including two pairs of brass knuckles and a taser, found more than 100 grams of drugs including fentanyl, crystal meth, cocaine and psilocybin.
Officers also found 19 cartons of illegal tobacco and more than $1,000 cash.
Kelowna RCMP said it also identified potential targets for future enforcement.
“We will continue to relentlessly target individuals involved in the drug trade, disrupting their operations and removing dangerous substances from our streets. The success of this initiative lays a strong foundation for future, more in-depth projects aimed at dismantling organized criminal networks and improving community safety,” Sgt. Scott Powrie said in the release.
