iN VIDEO: Salmon Arm lemonade makers have been quenching thirst of patrons for 15 years

A Salmon Arm woman has been turning lemons into lemonade for years and not even a pandemic can stop her.

Janice Jackson, the owner of Lemon Heaven Lemonade, has quenched thirst at celebrations across the Interior, as well as the Calgary Stampede, the Falkland Stampede, the Salmon Arm Roots and Blues Festival and RibFests, but this year is a little different due to COVID-19.

The lemonade stand set up its temporary shop at the Kelowna Drive-Thru Food Truck Festival at the beginning of August.

“Often it’s very busy and we’re a popular stand when it’s warm,” Jackson said. “This year we are really sad that we haven’t been able to do the lemonade, so when the opportunity arose to do the food truck festival, we jumped on it because lots of customers have been wondering where we are.”

The stand can be seen across the Interior as far as Prince George, she said.

“It’s very difficult, we are relying on something like this, so I’m glad that some people are finding us,” she said.

Jackson said they have considered opening a permanent location, and that’s something that may be up for discussion in the fall.

“We’re just hoping this pandemic is over and we can go back to making lemonade.”

Jackson recommends that newcomers always try the original, as “you can add something extra to it, but it’s hard to take (an extra flavour) away.”

Or blue raspberry, as it’s “by far the next popular,” she said.

Customer Bree Fedoruk, from Kelowna, said the stand is a staple part of the summer for her and called it a "nostalgic" part of her festival memories.
