Young child found wandering alone north of Falkland

The RCMP have located the parent of a young child found wandering alone north of Falkland.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP Cpl. Tania Finn confirmed a member of the public found the unattended young child on Chase Falkland Road and contacted police at around 12:30 p.m. today, Aug. 19.

"Two front line officers from the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP attended to the area to conduct a canvas of the neighbourhood and located the parent of the child," Finn said in an email. "The officers requested B.C. Ambulance Service attend to conduct a medical assessment of both the child and parent."

Finn said the Ministry of Children and Family Development had been called and is currently working with the family.
