Kamloops man accused of killing robbery accomplice in 2021

Two men are awaiting trial after a four-year murder investigation comes to a close in Kamloops.

Both are facing second-degree murder charges. One of them, Tristan Bris Fernandez, robbed a Kamloops business with the victim only weeks before the killing.

Kamloops RCMP say Fernandez and Robert Lloyd Sedore were charged on Sept. 18, nearly four years after Adam Hibbert’s body was found burning near the Missions Flats landfill.

“This was an extensive and complex investigation that required a high level of commitment, collaboration and determination,” Kamloops RCMP Supt. Jeff Pelley said in a news release.

On the same day his body was found, Hibbert, 29, was among three people charged in the robbery at a downtown Lordco, which saw a getaway vehicle torched at Riverside Park.

Firefighters were called to the scene on Oct. 1, 2021, where they discovered his body at the entrance to the landfill.

Fernandez, who is serving a lengthy jail sentence for an unrelated 2021 stabbing, was arrested at a Kamloops motel two days after Hibbert’s murder. At the time, he had a warrant related to the Lordco robbery.

While Fernandez was already behind bars, Sedore was recently arrested. Both are awaiting court dates.
