iN NUMBERS: Kamloops beat Kelowna on 2025’s most generous cities list

Whether or not you have supported someone during a serious medical crisis or given some money to help an athlete make their dream come true, you have probably heard of GoFundMe.

The popular fundraising platform released its data for the year, and Kamloops beat Kelowna on its generous cities ranking, but both cities made the top ten list.

Here are the numbers from GoFundMe:

  • 10: That was Kelowna’s ranking among Canadian cities for donors per capita.
  • 6: That was Kamloops’ ranking among Canadian cities for donors per capita.
  • 7: Out of the 10 most generous cities in Canada are in B.C. including Victoria at the top of the list.
  • 340: Hours. That’s how long Kamloops’ Zainab Oladipo cooked for and now she has the Guinness World Record for longest cooking marathon with help from people who donated online.
  • 86: GoFundMe pages were started in Kelowna in the past month.
  • 79: Million donations were made on GoFundMe in 2025.
  • 6: Million miles. That’s how long organizers walked, biked and swam for non-profit causes.
  • 2.5: Donations are made on GoFundMe every second.
  • 4: Donations per minute are made in Canada on GoFundMe.
  • 2.9: Per cent plus 30 cents, of every donation go to the platform on GoFundMe. That’s $16 for $500 raised through five donations.
