Pedestrian killed in crash with police vehicle in Surrey, B.C.

SURREY — British Columbia’s police watchdog is investigating after a pedestrian was killed in a crash involving a police vehicle in Surrey, B.C.

The Surrey Police Service says it happened at a busy route Sunday at around 7:20 p.m. on 152 Street between 64 and 66A avenues.

Police say the female pedestrian died at the scene despite medical attention by first responders.

The Independent Investigations Office has been notified and will look into the crash, and the watchdog says it has jurisdiction in the investigation.

Surrey police say they can’t comment further due to the ongoing IIO investigation.
