Penticton grandmother’s stolen birthday card finds its way to grandson

A Penticton grandmother was able to add an extra measure of joy to her grandson’s recent birthday after recovering a birthday card stolen in the mail.

Penticton RCMP spokesperson Const. James Grandy reported today, Jan. 13, a birthday card recovered in a police investigation into mail theft was identified and picked up by its sender.

Police provided details of the birthday card in a media release issued yesterday, including a photo of the card and the personal greetings from “Gramma Patti” to grandson “Henry.”

“As a follow up to our mail theft/fraud arrest, we’re happy to say Gramma Patti saw her card and was able to collect it from the detachment and deliver it to her grandson,” Const. Grandy said in an email.

The card was a piece of mail recovered by police following the execution of a search warrant on Mark Anthony Stewart following a week-long police investigation into fraud and mail theft.

Stewart faces several charges in relation to the incident.
