Fight at traffic light near Salmon Arm ends with stabbing

A man was stabbed during a fight at a traffic light near Salmon Arm on Sunday.

A man showed up at the Salmon Arm RCMP detachment, March 1, with a stab wound he said happened during a fight at the lights on the Trans-Canada Highway near the junction with Highway 97B, according to an RCMP media release.

RCMP said the man had a “significant laceration” and was taken to the hospital.

The suspect vehicle was identified and located by police, and the driver was arrested.

Calvin Pavey, 52, of Salmon Arm has been charged with assault with a weapon and aggravated assault. He was held for a bail hearing and released from custody on conditions.

Investigators are asking anyone who witnessed the fight or has dash cam footage from the area to contact Salmon Arm RCMP at 250-832-6044.
