RCMP launch homicide investigation after man shot in downtown Kamloops

A homicide investigation has been launched into an early morning shooting in downtown Kamloops.

Officers were called to a report of a shooting at around 4:30 a.m., March 11, near the 7-Eleven in the 600 block of Seymour Street.

Arriving officers found a man with a gunshot wound and an RCMP medic provided emergency medical care. He was transported to hospital where he died from his injuries.

RCMP investigators say the shooting was targeted. No arrests have been made.

After consulting with his family, RCMP have identified the homicide victim as Emmanual “Manny” Brooks and released his photo.

“We are asking anyone who may have been in the area at the time, or who has information that could assist investigators, to please contact police,” Staff Sgt. Kevin McIntyre said in a media release. “We are also interested in hearing from anyone with video surveillance or dash‑cam footage from the surrounding area during the early‑morning hours.”
