Cougars edge Kelowna Rockets in Prince George

PRINCE GEORGE – The Prince George Cougars defeated the Kelowna Rockets 2-1 on Saturday night in Prince George in the second of two games between the two teams this weekend.

Cougars goalie Ty Edmonds stopped 42 of 43 shots as the Rockets outshot Prince George 43-25 but could only score once.

Rourke Chartier had the Rockets lone goal, his 20th of the season, while Jordon Cooke took the loss in net.

It was 1-0 Cougars after the first before Chartier tied the game in the second. A third period goal by Jansens Harkins snapped a 1-1 tie and was the game winner.

The loss snapped Kelowna's five game winning streak and moved its record to 48-9-0-4 on the season, first overall in the WHL.

The Rockets and Prince George will play their third straight game on Tuesday in Kelowna as the two teams return to Kelowna to meet at Prospera Place.

It's the Rockets first ever Crazy Toque Tuesday where fans are asked to wear toques of all shapes and sizes and donate them at the game to be handed over to the Kelowna Gospel Mission.
