TORONTO — Meghan Agosta has entered the Professional Women’s Hockey League draft six years after she last played for Canada internationally.
The 39-year-old forward from Ruthven, Ont., represented Canada in four Olympic Games and won gold three times.
She was among 235 players declared eligible by the PWHL for the draft June 17 in Detroit.
The PWHL is currently nine clubs with more expansion teams expected to be announced for the league’s fourth season.
Agosta last played for Canada in 2019 in Rivalry Series games against the United States. She didn’t announce her retirement from the national team until 2024.
She scored 17 goals and had 11 assists in 20 games in her four Olympic appearances.
Agosta led Canada in scoring in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver with nine goals and six assists in five games.
She took a break from hockey after the 2014 Olympic Games to attend police academy. Agosta become a full-time constable with the Vancouver Police Department in 2015 when she also returned to the national team.
She ranks sixth all-time in Canadian women’s hockey team scoring with 85 goals and 95 assists in 178 games.
