15 year ban for BC teacher who sent student sexually suggestive video

A BC high school teacher who sent one of her students a sexually suggestive video has been barred from teaching for 15 years.

According to a May 19, BC Commissioner for Teacher Regulation decision, Kelsey MaCrae Blake was later convicted of child luring and sentenced to three years’ probation.

“Blake used her privileged position of power and trust to exploit a minor for sexual advantage,” the Commissioner said in the decision. “(She) violated a student’s physical and emotional safety and wellbeing.”

The decision said that after Blake sent the sexually suggestive video, she was later charged with four counts of sexual offences against minors.

She was later found guilty of one charge of telecommunication to lure a child under 18, and in July 2025, sentenced to three years probation.

The decision didn’t say what school she taught at, but the court proceedings took place in Port Hardy.

Blake is in her mid-30s and began teaching in 2021.

It’s unclear precisely when the offence took place, but she was suspended in January 2023 and in October 2025 was fired.

She signed a consent agreement with the teaching regulator admitting to her conduct and accepted a 15-year ban before she can apply to teach again.

“Blake engaged in criminal misconduct that undermines public trust in the teaching profession,” the decision reads.

No other information is given in the decision.
