Vernon has cheapest gas in Okanagan, Kamloops

If you live in the North Okanagan, it might be cheaper to drive into Vernon to fill up your gas tank today.

In Vernon there are gas stations selling a litre of regular for around $1.55.9 with the cheapest price at $1.51.9. It’s actually the least expensive gasoline in the province, May 20, according to GasBuddy.com.

It seems to be a highly localized anomaly since in nearby Coldstream, and Lake Country, gas is around $1.99.9.

In Kelowna, the lowest price is $1.71.9 with most gas stations around $1.99.9. Kamloops is in the same boat as Kelowna with the lowest price at $1.89.9 and most stations listed at $1.99.9. Penticton’s gas prices are around $1.95.9 with the cheapest at $1.94.9.

Vernon’s lowest price is lower than the cheapest gas in Alberta today, which is $1.61.9 in Red Deer.

On average B.C. still has one of the highest gas prices in Canada at $2.08.3, only beaten out by Newfoundland at $2.14.6. Alberta’s average gas price is $1.76.9.

The overall high price of gasoline isn’t likely to change anytime soon with the ongoing war in Iran impacting oil prices.

WTI Crude is at $97.72 USD per barrel and Brent Crude is at $104.68 USD a barrel.
