Missing driver found alive in crashed vehicle in Shuswap

The driver of a vehicle that rolled down a steep embankment on a remote forest service road in the Shuswap waited two days to be rescued.

The man was reported missing by his family, May 19, after he was last seen on May 17, according to an RCMP media release.

Emergency crews found the rolled vehicle on a forest service road in the Chase area soon after the driver was reported missing.

The man was extricated from the vehicle and he was taken to hospital in serious condition.

“This was a challenging situation in a remote area, and we are relieved the individual was located alive,” RCMP division media relations officer Cpl. Brett Urano said in the release.

RCMP aren’t releasing any additional information about the crash to the public.
