KELOWNA — Liam Lefebvre’s second goal of the night, scored at 5:28 of 3-on-3 overtime, lifted the Chicoutimi Sagueneens to a 3-2 victory over the Kelowna Rockets at the Memorial Cup tournament on Sunday.
Anton Linde also scored for the Sagueneens, who improved to 1-1 in the four-team tourney. Nathan Lecompte chipped in with two assists.
Tij Iginla and Mazden Leslie scored for the host Rockets, who slipped to 0-2 at Prospera Place and will now need some help to secure a playoff position.
Lefebvre opened the scoring at 14:38 of the first period, before Iginla tied it at 6:29 of the second.
Linde gave the Sagueneens a 2-1 lead at 14:01 of the third period, but Leslie scored at 15:50 to force overtime.
Lucas Beckman stopped 27 of 29 shots in the Sagueneens’ net, while Josh Banini stopped 26 of 29 shots for the Rockets, who had a month off before the Memorial Cup after losing in the second round of the WHL playoffs to the eventual champion Everett Silvertips.

The Silvertips (WHL) and Kitchener Rangers (OHL) play Monday in a showdown of 1-0 teams. The Rangers opened the tournament with a 5-0 win over the host Rockets, while the Silvertips slipped past the Sagueneens 5-3 on Saturday.
