B.C. RCMP warn of service issues at some detachments for non-emergency calls
SURREY — Mounties in British Columbia are warning the public of service issues for non-emergency phone lines at some detachments in the province.
A news release says the problem is under investigation and work is being done to restore service.
It says the issue is affecting the ability to pick up and transfer non-emergency calls.
RCMP say the affected detachments are Duncan, Ladysmith, Nanaimo, North Vancouver, Pemberton, Port Alberni, Sechelt, Squamish and Whistler.
It says other detachments may also be experiencing intermittent issues.
The Mounties are encouraging the public to either wait until service is restored to make non-emergency reports, or go to their local detachment in person, and are asking them not to call 911 unless there is an emergency.
