Man, 18, identified as victim in shooting-related homicide in Surrey, B.C.

SURREY — Homicide investigators have identified the victim of a fatal shooting over the weekend in Metro Vancouver as an 18-year-old man.

Police say Gaurav Deol was found with gunshot wounds early on Sunday morning in Surrey near 138 Street and 62 Avenue.

Officers had responded to the scene after reports of the shooting and found a vehicle that had struck a power pole.

Deol died at the scene despite life-saving measures, and police later found a burnt Toyota SUV in Surrey that is thought to be linked to the case.

No suspects have been named, but police believe the attack is targeted.

Investigators say they are releasing the victim’s identity in a bid to advance the case, and they are trying to learn more about Deol’s lifestyle and activities leading up to the attack.
