Revelstoke RCMP officer charged after crash with motorcycle

A Revelstoke RCMP officer has been charged after a motorcycle crash near Sicamous that left a man injured.

The BC Prosecution Service approved a charge of driving without due care and attention against Const. Rachel Mandel today, June 10, according to a press release from the service.

The crash happened last year.

Mandel was driving a police vehicle and ended up in a collision with a motorcycle on Highway 1 near Leaf Road east of Sicamous around 5:35 p.m. on June 15, 2025, according to B.C.’s police watchdog the Independent Investigations Office.

The man was seriously injured in the crash so the office launched an investigation that ended when the BC Prosecution Service approved the charge against Mandel.

Mandel’s first court appearance is set for July 21.
