UPDATE: Emergency crews respond to workplace accident in Kamloops

Kamloops RCMP say a worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries after a construction site accident on St. Paul Street in Kamloops this morning.

Emergency crews got the call at around 11:13 a.m. today, March 8, about a possible electrocution, but the nature of the incident hasn't been confirmed.

Kamloops RCMP spokesperson Const. Crystal Evelyn said the worker was on scaffolding and the screen used to keep things from falling off was burned. She said the worker was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

WorkSafeBC confirmed the workplace accident and is investigating.

"WorkSafeBC was notified of a serious workplace incident this morning near St. Paul street in Kamloops. We sent a Prevention Officer to the site. At this time, this is all the information we have," a spokesperson said by email.
