Teen arrested in home robbery by masked, knife-wielding male caught in the act

VERNON, B.C. – A 16-year-old boy is in custody in connection with a Vernon, B.C., home robbery by a masked, knife-wielding suspect whose timing was apparently off.

RCMP spokesman Gord Molendyk says officers were called to the apartment shortly before 1 a.m. Friday and found the apartment door open.

They entered and saw a male with a ski mask over his face and a large kitchen knife in his hand.

Molendyk says the suspect had several items from the home in his back pack.

He says the frightened homeowners had barricaded themselves in their bedroom while their apartment was being robbed.

The teen is expected to appear in court Friday.
