Ouster of Toronto Mayor Rob Ford on hold as parties agree on stay
TORONTO – Toronto Mayor Rob Ford’s ouster from office for conflict of interest is on hold.
The lawyer who brought the action against Ford has agreed to a stay of the judge’s ruling punting the mayor from office.
Lawyer Clayton Ruby says agreeing to the stay is to give the city a “measure of stability” while Ford’s appeal is decided.
The stay was to be heard Wednesday while a full appeal is expected to be heard early next month.
Last week, an Ontario judge ordered Ford removed from office for voting on a matter in which he had a financial interest.
Ford blasted a left-wing conspiracy for the ouster.
