Executive chef donates four-course meal to Saskatchewan women’s shelter

PRINCE ALBERT, Sask. – An executive chef has given a special Christmas gift to women who are spending the holiday season at a women’s shelter in Prince Albert, Sask.

Kevin Tetz said he felt inspired to create an elegant four-course dinner as a “culinary adventure” and then went onto Facebook to see if there was any interest.

Tetz, who works as a personal chef for a number of clients, said that’s when he heard from Carol Soles, executive director of the shelter.

Brenda Lee Pellerin, child support services coordinator at the shelter, says the meal was a real treat for the women, who got dressed up for the event.

She says the evening went so well that Tetz has offered to cook a gourmet meal at the shelter three times over the next year.

Tetz has also challenged other chefs to give back to the community in a similar way.

“(I am giving) my art of cooking,” he said. “I was taught cooking, everybody knows me for that, so I can give that back.”

Pellerin said it was an “awesome” gift.

“We want our ladies here to feel very empowered and special, and I think that was a perfect fit for them,” said Pellerin.
