SURREY, B.C. – A Surrey, B.C., teacher is facing charges after police witnessed an apparent drug deal near an elementary school in Vancouver.
The RCMP say 41-year-old Eugenio Alfonso Bahamonde is accused of possession and trafficking in drugs.
He was arrested on Nov. 7 after RCMP officers from Richmond saw the driver of a vehicle stop near a Vancouver school and appear to make a drug transaction with a pedestrian.
Police say the driver was also allegedly smoking pot at the time, so the officers pulled him over and slapped him with a 24 hour driving prohibition
Police say a subsequent search found marijuana and evidence of drug trafficking.
Bahamonde, a substitute teacher, has been suspended by the Surrey school board.
