Man critically injured in shooting in Maple Ridge, B.C.

MAPLE RIDGE — A man has been critically injured in a shooting in the Metro Vancouver community of Maple Ridge.

Police say in a statement that the shooting took place around 10 p.m. on Tuesday.

Officers responding to reports of shots fired at a home in the 11400 block of 236 Street found the wounded 56-year-old man in a vehicle outside.

Maple Ridge RCMP say its Serious Crime Unit has taken over the investigation.

The detachment released a second statement on Wednesday saying the information collected so far has led investigators to believe it was a targeted attack and there is no further risk to the public.

It says the victim is known to police and remains in critical condition at the hospital, while officers are taking steps to identify potential suspects.
