VICTORIA – The growing tensions between British Columbia’s take-no-prisoners Auditor General John Doyle and members of the Liberal government and officials at the legislature spilled out inadvertently today.

Freewheeling debate from what officials thought was a closed legislature Friday was pumped through speakers that could be heard throughout the building.

B.C.’s clerk of the legislature was heard at one point describing the relations between his office and that of Doyle’s as one of boiling animosity.

Last summer, Doyle released an audit of the financial management of the legislature that concluded the building’s financial record was in such a state of mess that he couldn’t conclude if money was being properly spent.

B.C.’s Speaker of the Legislature Bill Barisoff was overheard saying Doyle’s audit unfairly criticized B.C. politicians.

James said in an interview he’s meeting with Doyle’s office over Doyle’s request for all the financial documents relating to the 2011-2012 financial year, at least 28,000 documents.

Doyle’s office issued a statement saying he was conducting business as usual and preparing to meet with James next week.
